Step 1
Hold the clippers at about a 45-degree angle.
-
Step 2
Attach the 20-tooth goat comb to the clippers. This will give the dog a very close to the skin haircut.
-
Step 3
Turn the machine on.
-
Step 4
Set it to the slowest speed from the tension knob. The slowest speed is 700 strokes per minute and the fastest speed is 3,000. You can go faster as you are comfortable with the machine and if you are ready to cut the dog's hair at a faster rate.
-
Step 5
Get your dog to be still or use a noose to hold him in place. You don't want to be fighting the dog as you cut his hair.
-
Step 6
Use the Showmaster clippers to trim the torso rather than the face or legs.
-
Step 7
Clipper your dog in the direction of hair growth.
-
Step 8
Cut the hair close to the skin as if you are shaving the dog.
