Open the door to a world of color when you decorate your little girl's room with butterflies. Create a soft, neutral palate on the walls and with the furniture to let the butterflies take center stage. You can also make a butterfly mobile and hang it from the ceiling, place butterfly decals on the walls and showcase a butterfly collection with acrylic frames. Here are some helpful decorating guidelines.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yellow, lavender or light pink latex paint
  • Painting supplies
  • Picket fence bed and other bedroom furniture
  • Linens
  • Butterfly mobile and decals
  1. Step 1

Paint the walls in your little girl's room yellow, lavender or light pink as a backdrop to the colorful butterflies that you will be adding to the room. A white picket fence bed, a white canopy bed or a headboard shaped and painted like a butterfly will all coordinate well with the butterfly theme.

  2. Step 2

Cover a down comforter with a simple butterfly embroidered duvet or use solid color linens and fill the bed with colorful pillows to match the butterfly motif. Balance the beauty of the butterflies with complementary colors for your little girl's linens and curtains.

  3. Step 3

Add a butterfly shaped vanity and chair that you can find at online retailers or in furniture stores that specialize in children's rooms.

  4. Step 4

Randomly place butterfly decals on the walls and hang a mobile with glass or resin butterflies in constant flight. You can find real butterflies framed in acrylic at online retailers. Start a collection for your little girl's room and add to it for special occasions.

  5. Step 5

Create a craft area. Add a butterfly shaped craft table, chairs with butterfly backs and a bookcase with at least one reference book so she can learn about the beautiful creatures decorating her room.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make your little girl her own set of butterfly wings by shaping 12 gauge craft wire into wings and covering the frame with colorful transparent fabric. Hang the wings on the wall or the closet door as added decoration when she is not wearing them.
  • Paint in a well ventilated room.
