Stretch marks are scars on the skin's surface. They occur as skin is stretched to accommodate rapid growth. Stretch marks are most often the result of weight gain, muscle growth, pregnancy or growth spurts. While there are methods available to prevent stretch marks, there are also things you can do to hide them if you already have them. If you employ a few methods, you can effectively hide your stretch marks, making them much less noticeable.

Things You'll Need:

  • Self tanning lotion
  • Concealer
  • Blending brush or sponge
  • Cocoa butter
  • Shea butter
  • Sunscreen
  • Scar treatment cream
  • Laser treatment
  1. Step 1

Apply self tanning lotion to your stretch marks. Older stretch marks generally appear quite white in color. Self tanners will darken your stretch marks, helping them to blend in with surrounding skin. Make sure to apply self tanning lotion to the entire area to prevent uneven color.

  2. Step 2

Cover your stretch marks with concealer. Choose a concealer that matches your skin tone and apply it to your stretch marks. Use a blending brush or sponge to blend the concealer in with your skin. Opt for a water-resistant or waterproof concealer so your stretch marks will stay hidden even if you go swimming or sweat.

  3. Step 3

Moisturize the area with cocoa butter. Stretch marks are much more apparent on dry, parched skin. If you keep your skin supple and pliable with daily cocoa butter application, your stretch marks will be much less noticeable.

  4. Step 4

Wear sunscreen on your stretch marks daily. The sun's rays will further damage your skin, prolonging its healing process. Choose a high-SPF sunscreen that guards against both UVA and UVB rays.

  5. Step 5

Try scar treatment cream. These creams are available over-the-counter in most drug stores and pharmacies. They often contain onion extract, which helps to gradually fade scars such as stretch marks. You must use the creams daily for at least 12 weeks before seeing results.

  6. Step 6

Consider laser therapy. Laser treatment is often used to fade and get rid of stretch marks. The laser's light will break up darker pigmentation and scar tissue, helping to remove your stretch marks after repeated treatments.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not go out into the sun after laser treatment. Your skin will be incredibly susceptible to damage.
