How to Restore Backup Files to Microsoft Money

One of the advantages of using financial software, such as Microsoft Money, is that the program will often automatically generate backups of the files you use. This can be very helpful if, by accident, you close a file without saving it, or if the program unexpectedly crashes while you are working on something. By restoring a backup file, you can usually recover most or all of the changes that you had made.

Instructions

1. Open Microsoft Money.

2. Open the "File" menu and select "Restore Backup."

3. In the window that appears, click the "Restore backup file" option and then click "Next."

4. Click the option that begins with "Have Money search...." This will cause Microsoft Money to go through your hard drive and find all the backup files. Click "Next."

5. Select your backup file. A window will appear that will list various backup files for Microsoft Money. Select the one you would like to use. Then click "Restore."

6. Choose your restoration folder. In the menu that appears, click the folder where you would like your new (restored) file to be kept. Then, click "Ok."
