How to Design a Laptop Bag
Custom laptop bags make great corporate gifts, business promotional items or fun birthday presents. Anyone can create her own personalized laptop bag using a free version of an Adobe Photoshop program and a PC. Laptop bag designs can be uploaded to a print-on-demand company and purchased at a very affordable price, making custom laptop bags available to everyone. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you design your own laptop bag.

Download a free version of Adobe Photoshop by visiting one of the many websites offering a free download, such as Soft32 (see Resources section). On the main Web page, click on the blue "Download Photoshop" link and the download will begin.

Start a new image file by clicking "File," located in the upper left-hand side of the screen. When a drop-down list appears, click on "New." A pop-up window will appear on the screen requesting the dimensions for your image. For a laptop bag design, fill in 10 inches for the height and 10 inches for the width. Enter at least 300 DPI for the resolution and click "OK."

Insert a photo into the image. If you have a photograph on your computer that you would like to place onto your custom laptop bag, locate and right-click on the photo. A list will appear. Click "Copy Image." Next, click "Edit" at the top of the Photoshop page, and select "Paste." The photograph will appear inside the image.

Write the text into your image. Click on the icon that looks like a capital "T" inside the tool box, located to the right of the screen. Click and drag a marquee box anywhere on your image, and click inside the box to begin typing. Change the color, size and font style by using the text adjustment tools at the top of the screen.

Save the image onto your computer by clicking "File" and selecting the word "Save As" in the drop-down list. When a window appears, name your file and select the file type "jpeg," then click "OK."

Upload the image onto a print-on-demand website, such as CafePress (see Resources section). Start by going to the main website of CafePress and registering for a free account. Once the registration is complete, click on the link called "My Shops," located on the left-hand side of the screen. Once that page loads, click on "Manage Sections and Products." There will be an image loader that will allow you to load your laptop bag image onto the CafePress website. Once your image is loaded, select the items that you would like to place the image on, such as the laptop bag.
