How to Make a Cloth Cat Carrier

  1. Step 1
Transporting a loose cat in your car could result in losing him.
Transporting a loose cat in your car could result in losing him.

Gently guide your cat into an ordinary pillowcase, face first, then use the yarn or twine to tie it shut. Be sure the yarn is securely tied, but also easy to untie. Tie it as you would a shoelace.

  2. Step 2

Place your pillowcase-covered cat into a roomy cardboard box. The box will give him the security of feeling walls around him and a sense of stability.

  3. Step 3

Put the box in the back seat of your car. If possible, use the seat belt to keep the box from sliding around.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get a plastic hard-shell cat carrier as soon as possible. This cloth carrier is not recommended for extended trips, but will contain your cat for a short ride.
  • The cloth will allow the cat to breath normally; there is no need to cut air holes. NEVER substitute any type of plastic bag; it will result in the suffocation and death of your cat.
