Wigs are a fantastic way to change your look or mask the effects of hair loss. There are wigs for every budget and style. But to make your wig look like your own hair, you need to make quality, rather than price or style, your highest priority. The more expensive human hair or quality synthetic wigs are going to look more natural than the discount wig you ordered online.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wig cap
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair gel
  • Scarf or headband
  1. Step 1

Choose the right wig. Not only do you need a quality wig, you need to choose one that could be your natural hair. That means choosing a color and texture that could be natural and not simply choosing a color because you like it.

  2. Step 2

Hide all of your natural hair. Use hair gel to make it slick and to stop flyaways. If it is very long, french braid it and put it under a wig cap. Medium-length hair can be pushed into the wig cap alone. You can use bobby pins to secure the cap if you have very curly or frizzy hair. Short hair can simply be slicked back under the wig.

  3. Step 3

Visit a hairstylist. Put on your wig and visit a hairstylist to make sure that it is cut in a way that flatters you the most.

  4. Step 4

Use a scarf or a headband. People assume hair accessories mean your hair is natural.

  5. Step 5

Try baby powder. If the wig is too shiny, lightly dust it with baby powder and then brush it to make it look more dull and natural.

Tips & Warnings
  • Buy a wig stand to keep your wig in shape when you are not wearing it so that it looks better and lasts longer.
  • Take your time picking out your wig so that you don't get rushed into choosing the wrong one. Bring a brutally honest friend with you.
