Place the computers. Be sure that the computers are close enough to share the ethernet cable you have purchased and are on a stable, sturdy surface.

    • 2

Plug in the ethernet cable. Into the "guest" computer, place one end of the ethernet cable into the ethernet port. It looks like an oversized phone jack. Plug the other end into the other computer or to the wired or wireless router (if you do not have a router, also known as a "hub," you will have to disconnect from the Internet to connect to the other computer.)

Start the game. At the start of most games, there should be a "Multiplayer" option and another option "LAN/ local connection." Select these to begin play. If these connections do not work, you may need to remove the "firewall" protection from one of the computers. Follow your antivirus instructions for removing the firewall.
