How to Decorate a Church for a Cinderella Wedding

A wedding is a celebration of love. It is a ceremony where a couple commits to each other. Each person promises to love and cherish the other, through good and bad times alike. In earlier times, weddings were extremely formal and always administered by a church official. Some couples choose to hold to a traditional kind of wedding and add a few modern tweaks here and there. It is not uncommon for women to implement themes into their wedding. The Cinderella wedding theme is quite popular for weddings and it is a lovely way to decorate a church for a Cinderella wedding. Cinderella was a popular story that became a worldwide hit when Disney released the animated movie in 1950. Decorate the church with a Cinderella theme and make it feel like a magical castle. Just like Cinderella, your wishes can come true.

Things You'll Need

• Lanterns
• Glass slipper favors
• Tealight candles
• White, sparkly vine
• Small pedestals for glass slippers (optional)
• White and pale blue flowers
• White runner
• Silver and white glitter
• Banners
• Silver fabric glue

Instructions

1. Set up lit lanterns at the end of every other pew. The castle glowed in the Cinderella movie. Using white light lanterns or those with a sparkle design to create a beautiful Cinderella effect. You can also place the lanterns at the altar, outside the church entrance and up the outside stairs.

2. Place small glass slippers at windows with tealight candles inside. You can also place these at the altar or around the unity candle if you plan on using one during the ceremony. Add white, sparkly vine to create a kind of centerpiece. Consider using pedestals to raise the slipper and add the vine around the pedestal to direct attention to the glass slipper.

3. Use an abundance of white and pale blue flowers to decorate the church. Roses, lillies and white orchids will add interest. Instruct your florist to add white, sparkly vines and leaves instead of green, where possible. This keeps the church light and glittering, fitting in perfectly with the Cinderella theme.

4. Use a white aisle runner. Cinderella seemed to glow as she walked. Sprinkle silver and white glitter on top of the runner. This will help lighten up the church. The white will also reflect the lanterns and other light sources in the church. You will be illuminated as you walk down the aisle.

5. Hang vertical banners on the church walls. Place the banners between the windows. It will only take 4 to 6 banners. The banners should be white fabric with silver writing. Add quotes from the Cinderella movie. "A dream is a wish your heart makes..." is a good example of a romantic wedding quote (see Resources).

Tips & Warnings

• Use electrical bulbs instead of candles to light up the lanterns.

• Place electrical cords out of walkways to prevent falls. Use caution with candles, since they increase fire hazard risks.
