How to Draw a Dresser

Drawing a dresser that is directly in front of you is one of the easiest pieces of furniture to sketch. It is essentially a series of rectangles. By viewing the piece as a series of simple shapes, a dresser will appear on the paper quite simply.

Things You'll Need

• Pencil
• Paper
• Eraser
• Straight edge
• Image of a dresser as a guide

Instructions

1. 

   Using a straight edge, draw a trapezoid with the narrow part at the top and the widest part at the bottom. Attach a tall rectangle to the bottom of the trapezoid, again, using the straight edge. Draw a smaller rectangle at the base of the first one, which will be a guiding line for the feet of the dresser.

2. 

   Divide the primary rectangle with six even horizontal lines, which will be the top and bottom of three drawers. Leave a small gap between each one.

3. 

   Sketch out the dresser. Draw the outline of it and the drawers.

4. 

   Draw the feet of the dresser. Try to make the feet as similar in shape as possible.

5. 

   Add the knobs of the dresser. Use shading and lines to create a wood-like finish to make the dresser look complete.
