HTML is an acronym that stands for hypertext markup language. HTML is a web programming language that uses tags to specify command functions. You may, however, want to create simple text with your HTML code. There is a way to do this using an online application.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet
  1. Step 1

Point your web browser to thepcmanwebsite.com (see link in Resources). This is an online application that converts HTML to text.

  2. Step 2

Copy the HTML code you are interested in converting to simple text. If you want to convert text from an actual website, right-click the website and choose view source code. This will open the raw HTML in another browser window. You can copy the code from this window.

  3. Step 3

Paste the code into the text box. You are allowed to convert 20,000 characters at a time. If you are trying to convert a larger file, you may need to run the conversion twice.

  4. Step 4

Click "Convert to Text" located underneath the text box.

  5. Step 5

Click the "Remove Whitespace" check box if you would like to view your HTML code without any white space. If you want to maintain the white space, your converted text should already be displayed in the text box.
