Spiderman Unlimited was brief cartoon series that followed the adventures of everyone's favorite webslinger as he battled dangerous foes on a strange parallel version of Earth. While the series certainly wasn't "unlimited," the impact of the character designs have stuck around with a large fan based community. Spiderman has a darker more gritty and bestial edge to his design in the Spiderman Unlimited universe. This can be seen through his fingers, which are drawn like sharpened claws, and even the shadowy visage of Spiderman's face. Drawing this version of Spiderman relies on heightening the animal like features and using much darker colors to finish the illustration.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Black ink pen
  • Kneaded eraser
  • Colored markers in red, black, and yellow
  • Colored pencils in light blue, and dark red
  1. Step 1

Draw the head of the character with a small oval that comes to a pint at the chin. Draw a rectangle for the torso. Draw the arms with two sideways "L" shapes coming out of the upper right and upper left side of the torso. Draw the legs with two diagonally pointed upside down "V" shapes. The left side point of this "V" should aim toward the upper left-hand corner of the page and the right side point on the "V" should aim toward the upper right-hand corner of the page. Create the guidelines for the elbows, shoulders, hands, knees and ankles with small circles. Draw the feet with triangular shapes coming out of the bottom of the ankle circles. Draw the hips with an upside down triangle just below the torso. Connect these shapes with a straight line.

  2. Step 2

Draw parallel lines around the arm and leg guidelines to create the correct proportion with the limbs. Draw the eyes of Spiderman Unlimited with two large triangles in on the face. These triangles should have their points meet in the center of the face. Add four curved lines coming off the side of each hand circle for finger. Add another small curved line, just under these lines for the thumb.

  3. Step 3

Draw the logo on Spiderman Unlimited's torso. Draw a large diamond shape in the center of the chest. Attach a smaller diamond shape to the top and bottom of the large shape. Add eight curved lines coming off the sides of the large diamond for spider's legs. Add a web to the character's back with a curved diagonal "W" shape coming off the left and right side of the torso.

  4. Step 4

Erase all of your guidelines, leaving behind only the pencil strokes you wish to make permanent. Ink your illustration of Spiderman Unlimited. Carefully erase the pencil lines after the ink has dried.

  5. Step 5

Color the head, upper legs, forearms and torso logo of Spiderman red, using a marker. Color the eyes yellow and the rest of the body black with your markers. Let the ink dry and use a light blue colored pencil to add highlights to the outer edges of the body. Using a dark red colored pencil, add a shadow to the face of Spiderman, leaving only the eyes and thin halo of red around the outer edges of the face. Add more shadows with the dark red under the upper legs and forearms.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make a photocopy of the character in Step 4 and try your own unique costume designs.
  • Let the marker completely dry before adding highlights and shadows with your colored pencil or you could tear your page.
