Things You'll Need
- Tape Measure
- Pencil
- 2 sheets of 1/4-inch graph paper
- Ruler
- Scissors
- Tape

Measure the room with the tape measure. Be sure to note the placement and dimensions of permanent fixtures such as windows and doors.

Draw the outline of your room on the graph paper. One square on the paper is equal to 1 foot. Mark any permanent fixtures. Use the ruler to ensure straight lines.

Measure the length and width of all the furniture pieces that will be going in your room.

Draw the outline of the furniture on the second sheet of graph paper. Don't worry about being perfect. Squares and rectangles are all that are needed.

Cut out the furniture outlines with the scissors. Place the pieces on the room outline and move them around any way you like until your desired placement is obtained. Tape the furniture outline pieces in place.
