Things You'll Need:
- Tape measure
- Beading wire (0.018 gauge)
- 2 crimp beads
- Crimping pliers
- Needle-nose pliers
- Wire cutter
- Closure clasp
- Glass beads (3 to 4 mm)
- Spacer beads (3 to 4 mm)
-
Step 1
Measure around your ankle and add 2 inches to this measurement.
-
Step 2
Cut a length of beading wire with the wire cutters to the measurement figured in Step 1.
-
Step 3
Place a crimp bead onto one end of the wire and thread the end of the wire through the loop of one half of the closure clasp. Pass the beading wire back through the crimp bead and pull the wire tight so that the short tail of beading wire is only approximately 1/2 inch long.
-
Step 4
Crimp the crimp bead with the crimping pliers and clip off the beading wire tail immediately after the crimped crimp bead.
-
Step 5
Lay out your beads and decide what order you will string them. A typical design might include several different colors of glass beads and then a spacer and a repeat of this design along the entire length of the ankle bracelet.
-
Step 6
String your beads and spacers onto the beading wire according to the design you created in Step 5.
-
Step 7
Wrap the ankle bracelet around your ankle when the beading wire is almost full of beads and ascertain exactly how long you need to make the ankle bracelet.
-
Step 8
Continue stringing beads until the ankle bracelet is approximately 1/2 inch shorter than what the finished length needs to be.
-
Step 9
Place a crimp bead onto one end of the wire and thread the end of the wire through the loop of the other half of the closure clasp. Pass the beading wire back through the crimp bead and pull the wire tight so that the beads are tight and there are no gaps along the beading wire.
-
Step 10
Crimp the crimp bead with the crimping pliers and clip off the beading wire immediately after the crimped crimp bead to finish the ankle bracelet.
