Set your auto mirrors properly to reduce blind spots. Auto mirrors allow you to see any drivers that are behind you.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sit in the driver seat of your vehicle. Grab the steering wheel as you would if you were driving. Look at the rear view mirror. With your right hand, reach up and swivel the rear view mirror so that you can see out your entire back window.

  2. Step 2

With the driver side window up, lean to your left until your cheek is resting on the window. Use the switch or lever to adjust the left mirror until you can see the left side of your car.

  3. Step 3

Return to sitting in the driver's seat as you would if you were driving. Check that all you can see is pavement in your left mirror. If you can't, repeat the previous step.

  4. Step 4

Lean to your right until your head is in the center of the vehicle. Use the switch or lever to adjust the right side mirror until you see the right side of your car.

  5. Step 5

Sit in the driver seat as normal. Make sure you can see pavement in your right side auto mirror.

Tips & Warnings
  • Even if your auto mirrors are set properly, you should still glance over your shoulder when changing lanes.
