How to Identify a Business Phone Number
Everyone gets sick of answering telemarketing calls. You can't block all unknown numbers, though, because you could be blocking an important personal call as well in the process. So, before ignoring an urgent call from your sister-in-law or the local hospital, follow some simple steps to identify your caller.

Go to Yahoo Directories (see Resources) or another online directory such as callbase.com or whitepages.com.

Type the phone number into the search box. If it's a personal number, you will only get the town where it is coming from. If it is a business number, the search results should show the town, business name and address.

If you do not receive any information from the directory search, call the number back. If it is a business number, someone will likely identify the business when they answer or on the answering machine.

Caller ID usually displays the business name, saving you search time
If the number is blocked, then it is a personal call, since businesses are not allowed by law to block their numbers.
