How to Design a Plastic License Plate

Plastic license plates are fun little curios that can be attached to the back of a bicycle, mounted on the wall or even attached in the vanity plate section on your car. A plastic license plate is a fun way to express yourself and your personality without saying a word. You can purchase plastic license plates in nearly every gas station and gift shop, but to make a really special plastic license plate, you have to design your own.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw the outline of your license plate on the piece of paper. Use the ruler to measure the space that you want the license plate to take up. You can make it as large as a regular license plate, or the size of a mini license plate, if you prefer.

    • 2

Make a list of the things that you want to show with your license plate. For example, you might want your name, a loved one's name or a character trait such as "sassy" on the license plate. You might want to indicate a sport such as football or a favorite past time such as going to the beach. You might even want to write a motto or slogan such as "It's five o'clock somewhere!" on the license plate to let people know how you feel about life.

    • 3

Draw or cut out pictures that you might like to see on your license plate. Popular themes include palm trees, hearts and a variety of tattoo flash art such as skulls, swallows and pinup girls.

    • 4

Indicate on the outline of your plastic license plate where you would want these elements to be. Write in any words and arrange any pictures in place, or write in where they should go.
