How to Convert a WMV File to a FLV File
"Windows Media Video," or ".wmv" files, are a type of video format that's used by Microsoft Windows programs. Windows Media Player is an example of a video player that would use this type of format. An ".flv" file is a type used for videos watched on the Internet, often using the program Adobe Flash Player. So, to get a video that is in WMV to play in a flash player over the Internet, it needs to be converted.

Go to a site that offers a free video conversion program. An example of such a program would be Format Factory (See resources).

Download the program by clicking on the "download now" button. Next, install the file you downloaded by double-clicking on it.

Run the program by clicking on "Start" and then clicking on "all programs" and finally by choosing "format Factory."

Click on the "video" button on the left. Then, click on "all to flv." A new window should appear. Click on "add file" and find your WMV file. Double-click on it, and then hit "OK."

Begin the conversion process on the original screen by clicking the "start" button at the top. This should start the conversion. After it is finished, you can find your new file in the "FFoutput" folder.

Use a program such as WinRAR(see Resources) to unlock ".zip" files like the one the Format Factory installation file is inside.
