Belarus rifle scopes are the line of scopes made for the former Soviet and modern Russian military. Many are produced in the former Soviet Republic of Belarus, hence the name. Given the investment the Soviet Army made into sniping, it should not be surprising that these are very high quality scopes, that are of interest to owners of both Russian and other style firearms. Many of these scopes have night vision optics, so this guide will include steps for their operation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take hold of your rifle by placing your primary hand on the grip and your secondary hand on the stock, forward of the trigger assembly. Place the rifle butt squarely into your shoulder.

  2. Step 2

Activate the night vision optics if it is nighttime by turning the knob on the top, right side of the scope.

  3. Step 3

Adjust for brightness using the knob on the top, right side of the scope. This is adjacent to the night vision "on/off" knob.

  4. Step 4

Adjust the scope to the desired magnification. The exact setting will be determined by the range and the size of the target, but as a general rule you never want to be straining to see a target through a scope because it is too small.

  5. Step 5

Adjust for estimated bullet drop and windage. Nearly all scopes have knobs to permit adjustments for these two factors. The horizontal knob will make small adjustments to correct for windage, while the vertical knob will correct for bullet drop or the ballistic parabola of a shot.

  6. Step 6

Place the reticle on the target. Most Belarus scopes have black crosshairs with a red aiming dot in the center.

Tips & Warnings
  • Rifle scopes require periodic re-sighting with a boresighter for accurate, long-range shooting.
