How to Rig a Jug Line for Bass Fishing
Jug lines are a popular way of catching bass in rivers and are often used by anglers overnight while camping. The lines are most often set up in late evening and retrieved in the early morning. In this article you will find the steps to rig your own jug line for bass fishing in a river.
Things You'll Need
- 20 feet of rope
- Four milk jugs with screw-on caps
- Scissors
- One spool of fishing line
- Four hooks
- Bait
- Two stakes
- Hammer

How to Rig a Jug Line for Bass Fishing

Measure 5 feet from one end of the rope and tie the first jug on by the handle. Sequence the remaining jugs 1 foot from the previous jug.

Cut four pieces of fishing line long enough to extend into the water but not touch bottom. Tie a hook on one end of each section of fishing line.

Tie the free end of each length of fishing line to a jug handle. Each jug will have one line.

Bait the four hooks.

Drive a stake into the ground on the river bank. Tie one end of the rope to the stake.

Place jugs in the water with the handles down. Separate jugs as far as the rope will allow.

Drive the second stake into the bank opposite the first stake. Tie the free end of the rope to the second stake.
