How to Make a Toothbrush Handle
The main component of manufacturing a toothbrush is the handle. Once you have made a toothbrush handle in almost any shape or size, you can easily add the bristles to the end. Although store bought toothbrush manufacturers use machines that mold plastic into the handle, you can create your own. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Find a small piece of hard wood stock to fashion your own toothbrush handle. Since the handle is going to be small, you could even use some scrap wood that was not needed for another project.
-
2
Take your measurements. For an adult toothbrush, use these general measurements: 7 ½ inches long and ½-inch diameter at the base. Use a pencil to make markings on the wood to know where to make your cuts.

Use a small hand saw to cut the wood using your toothbrush handle measurements. If it comes out rough, don't worry, you are going to have to shape it. You can use a wood file to shape away the rough edges of the toothbrush handle as well as narrow the diameter of the toothbrush. Although the base will measure approximately ½-inch in diameter, the top will measure approximately ¼-inch.

Smooth down the handle with sandpaper. Start with 100-grit and gradually work up to 220-grit until you reach the desired smoothness.

Tips & Warnings
Don't use any stains or paints on your homemade toothbrush handle. This can prove toxic to the user. Apply nylon bristles using a non-toxic adhesive into small drilled holes at the base.
