Things You'll Need:
- Computer
- Photoshop CS2
- Image files
-
Step 1
Create a new file in Photoshop by clicking on "file" in the top left corner and then selecting "new." A screen will appear that asks you what size you want the document to be. For the purposes of this tutorial, create a document that is 8.5 x 11" and set it to "Horizontal."
-
Step 2
Open at least three images that will be used in the document to create the collage. Click on the "Layers" palette and then on the "New Layer" icon at the bottom of the palette. Name the layer "Picture 1". Drag the first photo onto this layer. Repeat this process with the other pictures.
-
Step 3
Adjust the photo sizes. After all the images have been dragged on to the main layer, set their sizes so that they fit on the canvas. A picture can be re-sized by clicking on the corner of the image while pressing Ctrl. Continue to hold down the Ctrl button and the mouse button as you drag the box up or down to achieve the desired size.
-
Step 4
Click on "Set Foreground Color" and select which color you want the background to be. Then, click on the paint bucket tool in the toolbox on the left-hand side of the page. Click on the canvas and the background will fill up with the color you chose.
-
Step 5
Blend the images in the collage. Use the marquee tool to outline the first image you want to edit. On the tool bar, choose "Select" and "Feather." Set "Feather Selection" to 20 pixels.
-
Step 6
Repeat step 5 with all the pictures. Move the images closer together so that they slightly overlap one another. The feather tool will allow these layers to be seamlessly combined. Your collage is now complete.
