For a unique and cost-effective wedding favor, table decoration, boutonniere or bridal bouquet, consider origami flowers. Best of all, these flowers don't wilt or fade, so they can be enjoyed long after the wedding is done.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One 6-inch square of origami paper in the color of your choice.
  1. Step 1

If you chose colored paper, then fold your paper diagonally, with the color side out, from corner to corner to form a triangle.

  2. Step 2

Fold the right and left sides to the center crease to form a triangle. The paper should now look like a kite.

  3. Step 3

Fold the right and left corners down to touch the outside fold.

  4. Step 4

Now flip the paper over and bring the bottom tip up to meet the top tip and fold.

  5. Step 5

To form a stem, fold the bottom tip down again an inch farther up from the fold. Fold down the corners of this crease.

  6. Step 6

Fold the right edge of the stem to the center crease. You will notice the corner that you just made start to open. Squash fold this corner down. Repeat with the left side.

  7. Step 7

Fold back the top tip of the flower about 1/2 inch.

  8. Step 8

Flip the flower over. Your basic origami rose is now complete.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you choose, you can add a stem to your rose. As you become more proficient with making paper flowers, you may choose to make more complex designs.
