Make sure both of your hands and the back of the battery cover are dry to ensure friction and grip. If you have moist hands, it will be harder to open because the battery cover is slippery.

Turn off your phone. This ensures you won't make accidental phone calls or send text messages while trying to open the battery cover.

Turn over the phone so the battery cover is facing you. When you flip the phone over, the screen should be face-down but closest to you, and the number pad should be face-down but away from you.
