1
Look at the side of your coffee pot. Most are marked to indicate the water level for a specific amount of cups for coffee. Keep in mind that coffee is typically measured in 6 oz. cups, not 8 oz. cups.
-
2
Fill the pot with the desired amount of water based on the amount of coffee you are making. The general rule is 6 oz. of water for every 2 tbsp. of ground coffee.
-
-
3
Pour the water into the appropriate reservoir on the coffee maker. Put your ground coffee into the filter.
-
4
Close up the machine and place the pot in place on the heating element, under the filter. Turn on the coffee maker.
-
5
Allow the coffee pot to cool completely after you have finished drinking your coffee.
-
6
Use a drop of dish detergent and warm water to wash the coffee pot thoroughly. Wash out any dark residue inside the pot.
-
7
Rinse the pot well so that no soap is remaining. Allow the pot to air dry, or dry it thoroughly with a dish cloth. Place the carafe back on the coffee maker until you are ready to use it again.

Tips & Warnings
Use cool, filtered water to make your coffee for the best results. If you have leftover coffee, allow it to cool. Store it in the fridge and use it for making an iced coffee later in the day.
Don't transfer a hot coffee pot to the sink for washing. The drastic change in temperature could cause the glass pot to crack. Wait for the pot to cool completely before washing. Rinse the coffee pot well after washing. Any remaining soapy residue could affect the flavor of your coffee.
