How to Cut With a Wet Saw
Not only is a wet saw an efficient and effective tool, it is also easy to use. A wet saw has a tray that holds water, which is sprayed up to the blade while cutting tile or stone to keep the blade cool. Follow these easy steps, and you'll soon be cutting like a pro. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1
Use your measuring tape and wax pencil to mark on your tile or stone how much you need to cut. If you need to trim 4 inches, then mark 4 inches at the top and bottom of the tile.
-
2
Use your T-square to draw a straight line between the two points with your wax pencil so you won't lose your line once water is sprayed across it while cutting.
-
-
3
Line up your mark with the edge of the blade. Place one hand along the wider side of the tile not being cut and use your other hand to guide it into the blade. Put on your safety glasses.
-
4
Turn on the saw. Water should start spraying. Don't be afraid of the blade; it is dull to the touch. Slowly guide your tile into the blade, but don't push too hard. Let the blade do the work; you are simply there to guide the tile through in a straight line.
-
5
Spray off the tile to remove any residue from the saw after you make your cut. The water gets dirty after cutting tile or stone.
-
6
Check your water level in the saw after each cut. Refill as necessary.

Tips & Warnings
You can rent a wet saw from your local hardware store or buy one from a home improvement store. If you buy one, don't feel pressured to buy the most expensive one, but don't buy the cheapest one either. A middle-grade wet saw sells for around $80; this will get the job done.
As you lean over the saw while making a cut, be aware that bits of tile fly out from the blade; this is why you should always wear eye protection.
