Sometimes, you need to insert hyperlinks into Word documents. Inserting hyperlinks within the document is useful for readers, so that they can simply click on the link and access more information from the Internet about the topic being discussed, rather than scrolling all the way down to the end of the document and accessing the link in the Resources or Appendix sections. There are several ways to insert a hyperlink into a Word document.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Type the web address into the Word document. You can simply type the URL (web address) in the Microsoft Word document and hit "Enter" on your keyboard for the hyperlink to become active. In order to go to the hyperlink, press "Ctrl" on your keyboard and click on the hyperlink with your mouse.

  2. Step 2

Go to the "Insert" menu in the toolbar and select "Hyperlink." Alternatively, you can also press "Ctrl" and "K" on your keyboard to bring up the "Insert Hyperlink" window. Type the URL in the "Address" text box. Type the text that you would like to display in the "Text to Display" text box. By default, it will display the URL.

  3. Step 3

Highlight the text in the word document that you would like to appear as a hyperlink. Right-click and select "Hyperlink." The "Insert Hyperlink" window will appear. Type the URL and text to be displayed in the "Address" and "Text to Display" text boxes, respectively.
