Commemorate a special occasion or holiday by displaying your keepsakes in a shadow box. Shadow boxes are like three-dimensional scrapbooks, and make a great project for children. All you need to get started is a shoe box.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Cut strips of construction paper to line the inside of the shoe box. Glue the strips of paper to the sides and bottom of the inside of the shoe box.

  2. Step 2

Turn the shoe box so it rests on one of the long sides, so that the bottom of the box is now the back. Glue the keepsake items into the shoe box.

  3. Step 3

Draw thematic pictures inside the box on the construction paper. Consider using air-dry modeling clay or Play-Doh to make three dimensional models. Let the clay or dough dry for one to two days before gluing it inside the shadow box.

  4. Step 4

Decorate the outside of the shadow box. Glue strips of construction paper to the outer edges, or color the box.

Tips & Warnings
