For dependability, style and customer care, the Lexus is one of the finest luxury cars available. A Lexus dealership will be happy to replace a battery in your remote key, often free of charge if it's still under warranty. But perhaps it's not your lucky day and the dealership is closed, or maybe you just don't have time to make the trip. Here's how to open a remote key and replace the battery yourself.

Step 1

Lift the key out of the fob.

Step 2

Insert the tip of the screwdriver into the indented space located inside the mechanical key slot.

Step 3

Gently pry the fob open.

Step 4

Use the screwdriver to lift out the old battery.

Step 5

Set the new CR1632 battery into place with the positive (+) side up.

Step 6

Replace the fob cover and snap it shut by pressing on the bottom first, and then the top (the top is the side where you insert the mechanical key).
