Side ponytails and side-swept styles are coming back from the '80s, but with a more sophisticated lower center of gravity. While the ponytails are attractive and relatively simple, "Cosmopolitan" magazine has a style that is more loose and relaxed, using bobby pins instead.

Things You'll Need:

  • Gel Blow dryer Bobby pins Loose clip

How to make a simple side-swept hairstyle

  1. Step 1

Comb a gel through wet hair. "Cosmopolitan" recommends Tresemme 24-Hour spray gel, but Garnier is also effective.

  2. Step 2

Pull hair over to preferred side, and blow dry.

  3. Step 3

Hold the locks to that side with a loose clip, and let set.

  4. Step 4

Allow hair to cool all the way before you touch it

  5. Step 5

Remove the clip, and cross bobby pins above the nape of your neck to secure. They should cross each other on the side where you don't want the hair to go, keeping it to the side like a side ponytail, but more loose and relaxed.
