Instructions

  1. Ice Water

    • 1

Keep the stain from setting. If the stain is still wet, cover it with ice cubes. Cold water helps remove blood stains and the ice will keep the stains wet as you work on them.

    • 2

Dip a rag in a bowl of ice water and wring it gently.

    • 3

Move some of the ice out of the way. Begin to blot the area with the wet rag. Press the rag into the stain. When the part of the rag you're using becomes discolored, fold it over and continue with a clean area.

    • 4

Dip the rag into the water again and wring it, and continue blotting until the stain comes out. Don't rub while the stain is wet or you'll just spread it.

    • 5

Move more ice and work on another section. Continue working on the stains, one section at a time.

    • 6

Clean the rag, or switch rags, whenever necessary so that you don't spread the stain further, or just keep dripping more watery blood onto the area. If the stain comes up, blot the area dry with a clean, dry rag.

    Salt & Peroxide

    • 7

Cover the area with salt and allow it to sit for two or three of minutes.

    • 8

Make a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 peroxide.

    • 9

Dip a clean rag into the mixture, wring lightly and begin scrubbing the stain gently. Be careful not to scrub past the edges of the stain so that you don't spread it. This will take many blood stains up from most carpets within a few minutes.
