Instructions

    • 1

Wear latex gloves to protect your hands. Open a plastic garbage bag nearby so that you do not accidentally drop any feces in other areas around your home.

    • 2

Combine 1 part water and with 1 part white vinegar in a bowl.

    • 3

Remove excess waste from the carpet with paper towels. Do not put any pressure on the carpet, as that will push the feces into the fibers. Place the soiled paper towels into the garbage bag.

    • 4

Scrape off dried feces with a dull butter knife. Remove as much of the dried feces as possible, but do not pull too hard or you will pull out the carpet fibers.

    • 5

Pour the vinegar solution over the diarrhea stain. Blot the solution from the carpet with paper towels until you absorb all of the excess liquid.

    • 6

Add more of the vinegar solution to the area if you still notice the stain. Continue to blot the area until you remove the stain. Put the garbage bag in an outside bin.

    • 7

Sprinkle baking soda over the area to remove any lingering odor. Let the baking soda sit for two to three hours. Vacuum the area carefully to remove the baking soda.
