Spills happen. That's why it's so nice to have a carpet cleaner readily available to do spot cleaning or to get those high traffic areas into shape before the guests arrive. Home carpet cleaners tend to get a workout, especially in a home with small children or pets. You can perform your own basic repairs on a Bissell carpet cleaner, because of the ease of access and availability of replacement parts.

on 11/27/2009 Upon running cold water through the lint screen of the cap-and-insert of my Bissell Proheat 2x model, it managed to fall apart.

Luckily nothing fell down the drain; however, I have yet to successfully put it back together without the bag leaking.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem? (Don't feel like ordering a new one.)

There's a metal washer, spring, black cylinder/cone seal and a black post.

I've tried to assemble it every way possible and the only way that it will lock back into the cap allows water to leak everywhere.

I could really use some help.
