How to Wax a Snowboard Rail
There are few experiences more frustrating in snowboarding than having a good run interrupted by a poorly maintained rail or ledge that hinders your ability to slide along it. One solution to a slow rail is the application of skateboard wax, which serves to reduce the friction on your board and increase your speed across the rail. Wax is a cheap and fast solution, and a bar of wax is small enough to keep in your jacket for any slow rails you encounter.
Instructions

1
Test the rail with a few runs to be sure the rail needs waxing and that the slow ride wasn't a one-time occurrence.
-
2
If the problem persists, identify the parts of the rail that are slowing you down as you slide.
-
-
3
Grind the wax onto the slow spots by hand with firm, steady pressure, until the slow sections are covered with a visible layer of wax. For extra slow spots, apply a few extra passes with the wax until a thicker buildup is attained.
-
4
Test the rail with an additional set of runs.

If the rail is still too slow, continue to apply wax until you are happy with the rail's performance.

Tips & Warnings
Overwaxing the rail can be dangerous. It is better to apply too little wax then add more than to overwax the rail and risk injury.
