How to Get Rid of Cystic Acne Around the Chin
When someone is suffering from the painful effects of cystic acne, she will typically want to get rid of it as soon as possible. In an ideal world, you'd simply apply a little ointment to the affected area and the blemishes would be gone. But, it often isn't as easy as this especially when we're talking about fairly deep forms of this skin condition, as would be seen in cystic acne. If you've begun to experience this type of outbreak, be it on your chin, your cheeks or your forehead, there are a few actions you can take to treat this skin condition.

1
Consult your dermatologist. One of the most common and effective methods to get rid of cystic acne is to start a course of treatment that consists of an antibiotic you would take orally. Your dermatologist will be able to give you a prescription for this type of treatment.

2
Start using an azelaic acid. A topical treatment of azelaic acid may also be fairly beneficial to treat cystic acne and can often be used in combination with antibiotics. What this medication does is treat the bacterial infection deep within the pores while keeping these same pores clear of pollutants. Typically, you'll see results in as little as 6 weeks, but it may take more time for others.

3
Apply benzoyl peroxide. While more constructive for the treatment of moderate (as well as mild) acne, some people can find some benefit in applying a benzoyl peroxide solution to areas of the face that are infected, so to speak, with cystic acne. Much like azelaic acid, you should give the solution time to work, normally around 6 weeks as well.

Try a corticosteroid injection. While not the most pleasant form of treatment, corticosteroid injections are another effective method of getting rid of cystic acne. What will happen is your doctor will administer a shot directly into the cystic acne. This will serve to reduce the swelling and treat the infection you are currently suffering.

5
Start taking an oral contraceptive. Many times, women (and only women) will find positive results from taking an oral contraceptive as a treatment for cystic acne. Much like the other treatments, you'll need a prescription from a medical professional.
-
6
Have the cystic acne surgically treated. In more severe cases, it may be beneficial for your doctor to "draw out" the infection that is causing the cystic acne through a small incision to the skin.
-
7
Talk to your doctor about Isotretinoin. This is really more of a last resort treatment for cystic acne. According to the Mayo Clinic, it should only be used after other medications and treatments have failed.

Tips & Warnings
To keep your skin in good health, drink plenty of water each day.
Do not try to "squeeze" or "pop" cystic acne nodules. It will only exacerbate the problem and may cause an even more serious infection.
