"Star Wars" is a popular birthday party theme, particularly for young boys. A "Star Wars" party begins with the invitation. You want to show your guests what the theme is without having to say it outright. Because "Star Wars" is such a popular theme, you can buy party supplies with "Star Wars" characters and ships on them. This can be costly, though. It's much easier to create your own themed party invitations.

Things You'll Need:

  • Color printer
  • Paper
  • Invitation-size envelopes

    Creating a Star Wars Invitation

  1. Step 1

Select a free picture from a website or pull your own screen shot from a movie. Look for one that you can use for with a quote with a birthday theme. For instance, use a shot of Yoda, then you can add the caption, "When 900 years old, you reach... Look as good, you will not."

  2. Step 2

Jazz up the photo. Use a program like Microsoft Paint to add dialogue balloons or alterations to images. If you're really good at photo manipulations, you could add your child's head in place of Luke Skywalker's or put a birthday cake in Darth Vader's outstretched hand.

  3. Step 3

Create a blank Word document with minimum margins and two columns. As you look at the document on the screen, the images will need to be in the right-hand column. The left-hand column is the back of the card.

  4. Step 4

Paste two copies of the image on the right-hand column.

  5. Step 5

Scroll down until you create a second page in the document. On this page, you can add another quirky "Star Wars"-like quote like, "Luke, join me for some dark-chocolate cake." You also need to add the party details; who the party is for, the date it will be, the time of the party, where the party will be and an RSVP phone number.

  6. Step 6

Print out the document. Copy the two pages so they are back and front. Each two-sided copy will make two invitations.

  7. Step 7

Separate the invitations by cutting between the pictures. Insert them in the invitation envelopes.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you aren't adept at manipulating images, just use the image you want for the front of the invitation and add a "Stars Wars"-type line on the inside of the invitation.
  • Try to use free images whenever possible. The easiest way to get the images would be to use screen shots from a DVD of your favorite "Star Wars" movie.
