Step 1
The first step in repairing your ailing garbage disposal is determining the problem. Turn on the disposal - it will either make a buzzing noise or no noise at all.

Step 2
When your garbage disposal makes no sound when you turn it on you should check the outlet breaker the make sure that is not the problem. Check the disposal again to see if it is working.

Step 3
Reset buttonIf your garbage disposal still makes no sound when turned on locate the red reset button. Press this button and try the disposer again. This should correct the problem.

Step 4
Jam buster wrench allen wrenchIn the event your disposal turns on and makes a buzzing noise, locate your Jam Buster wrench or the wrench provided at installation. Insert the wrench into the hole in the center of the disposal base. Work the wrench back and forth while running hot water through the garbage disposal. This should loosen up your blades.
