Step 1
Wear a pedometer. Pretty soon, you'll love checking your pedometer to see how many steps you've taken. Set a goal to walk a certain number of steps a day, and you'll be looking forward to walking as much as possible each and every day.
-
Step 2
Find an exercise buddy. Talking about your favorite music or TV shows makes exercise a lot easier. Choose an exercise partner who can keep you motivated as time goes on and likes the same exercises that you do. Lift weights, walk, do yoga together, or anything else that makes you happy, as long as you motivate each other to keep exercising.
-
Step 3
Treat yourself to a motivational prize if you stick to your exercise goal. For example, when you exercise a certain number of times, reward yourself to a treat. Have you been going nuts over a new MP3 player? If you meet your exercise or fitness goal, treat yourself to that MP3 player. You deserve it!
-
Step 4
Track your exercise and fitness progress. As you see results, you'll become motivated to exercise more and become even more in shape! Seeing results in and of itself can be a great motivator, and tracking your progress and improvements can also help you learn to enjoy exercise and your success.
-
Step 5
Don't deprive yourself of snacks that aren't completely healthy. Do you really want ice cream? No problem! Allow yourself to have a small ice cream, and then exercise to burn off the calories. You'll want to exercise so the calories won't go straight to your hips. You'll want to exercise so you can stay focused on weight loss after eating that snack.
-
Step 6
Join a gym and pay monthly. Watching the money disappear from your bank account each month may be a great motivator to get you to the gym. I mean, you don't want to pay money for nothing, right? So pay that money and make the most of it!

on 5/25/2009 I have a pedometer that needs dusting. Think I'll dust it off and put it to work. I'll walk, it can count. :) Thanks!
