Things You'll Need:
- Lace Repair Kit
- Camera (optional)
-
Step 1
Some of the lacing on a baseball glove can be a little tricky. I like to take a lot of pictures of the glove before I begin removing the old lacing. This gives you something to refer back to when you're re-lacing the glove.
-
Step 2
The Tools...The first thing you're going to need is a re-lacing kit. These are readily available at any sporting goods store. I got mine at Modells for $4.99. The kit includes the tools for threading the lacing and the leather lace.
-
Step 3
Find the break in the lacing. My break was right in the middle of the webbing on my catchers mitt. Start by un-weaving the lacing in one direction from the break. Only undo a few stitches at a time.
-
Step 4
Insert your lacing tool into the hole.
-
Step 5
With the tool inserted through the hole take your new lacing and insert it into the hole at the end of the tool. Pull about 2 inches of lace through.
-
Step 6
Now pull the tool back out through the hole pulling the lace through with it. Pull enough lace through to re-lace back to the knot at the end of the old lace. You want to leave enough lace to work the other side of the break. Once we're done with this side, we'll have to stitch back the other side of the break to the other knot.
-
Step 7
Repeat the the last two steps until you have replaced the entire length of lace lace.
-
Step 8
The Knot...Pull both ends of the new lace tight and tie a knot.
