Things You'll Need:
- 2 part waterproof epoxy
-
Step 1
Get a 2 part epoxy that is waterproof. Pool Putty is a product I have used and had success with.
-
Step 2
In order to activate the product you use to repair your swimming pool sand filter, you have to mix the 2 parts of the product. Do this right before using it and place over the outside of the tank over the crack. If you can easily access the inside of the tank, place the epoxy on the inside as well. This will increase the chances of the process working.
-
Step 3
Allow the product to cure for at least 24 hours as dry as you can keep it. After that, turn the pump back on and see if the patch holds. There is a lot of pressure going through swimming pool sand filters and you may get by a little while with this patch, but it is not a permanent fix. Please comment with any other questions about patching a swimming pool sand filter.
