Things You'll Need:
- Jeans
- Cheese Grater
- 20 oz Coffee Grinds
- Coins
- Sandpaper
- Bucket
- Stockings or Socks
-
Step 1
Take the jeans and put some coins in the pockets. Using the sandpaper, rub all around the edges of the coins. Repeat on all of the pockets until you have the worn look you are after.
-
Step 2
Now, take the cheese grater and run it over the jeans. Pay special attention to the areas that naturally get worn out over time such as the booty area, back pockets, knees and the bottom hem. Whether you use the fine grate or the large grate side is up to you. The larger grate is more apt to make holes and large rips. So the look you are after will determine if you use the fine grate or large grate.
-
Step 3
After you have distressed the jeans, it's time to give them that vintage wash. Take the coffee grinds and pour into the stockings or socks, leaving enough room at the top to tie a knot. Place the filled stockings/socks into the bucket.
-
Step 4
Fill the bucket about 1/2 full with very hot water. Let the coffee brew about an hour. Add the Jeans to the bucket and let sit at least 12 hours. The longer they soak, the darker the stain.
-
Step 5
Remove the jeans from the bucket, throw into the washer and dryer and there you have it, vintage jeans without the pricetag!
