This is the right way to blow dry your hair. My article has tips and tricks to get volume and create a beautiful, smooth style!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Round brush, styling products such as a root lifter, volumizing foam, or hairspray.
  1. Step 1
    Blowdryer with a concentrator
    Blowdryer with a concentrator

The length of your hair determines the size of round brush you will need. The longer your hair, the larger diameter of a round brush you will need. I recommend a boar bristle brush to get maximum shine. You may also want to invest in a concentrator for your blowdryer. A concentrator is a thin almost pointy attatchment that fits on the nozzle of your blow dryer.

  2. Step 2

While your hair is wet, take your volumizing spray and work it into your root area.

  3. Step 3

Starting at the back of your hair, towards the nape, start blowdrying your hair in small sections. Think of your hairbrush as a roller. Wrap the hair around the brush and hold in place. Use your blow dryer and concentrate the air flow on the round brush. If you move on to another section before the hair is completely dry, your style will fall flat.

  4. Step 4

While you are blowdrying a section, slowly use your wrist and continue to curl the hair around the brush, always tightening the tension of the hair on the brush. Work your way all the way to the crown.

  5. Step 5

Finish with the sides of your head and your bangs. Remember the direction you wrap your hair around the brush is the direction the hair is going to lay.

  6. Step 6

The more you practice, the easier this is going to get. You will be able to create that salon look at home! Finish with a good hairspray, I recommend an anti-humidity spray, or a 24 hour spray.

Tips & Warnings
  • When hairspraying your hair, always keep the bottle at least five or more inches from your head, this will help the hairspray lightly attatch to your hair, that way it's not one big glob in one spot.
