Low income apartments are a good way for families that are living at or below the poverty line to save money on rent. Low income apartments are rent subsidized apartments paid in part by HUD or the Department of Housing and Urban Development. To be considered for low income apartments, you must meet the income standards set forth by HUD.

  1. Step 1

    Find out the requirements for applying for low income apartments. You can visit the housing agency in the county you plan on applying to get that information. You can also go to the HUD website to find the information.

  2. Step 2

    Get the low income apartments’ application from the housing agency. Fill out the application and provide proof of your income level.

  3. Step 3

    Search for low income apartments using the search tool on the HUD website or get a list of low income apartments from the housing agency. Find the low income apartments that suit your needs and contact them. You’ll be put on their waiting list for the next available unit.
