Step 1
Shopping for a diamond engagement ring online and trying to decide which website to buy from? Here are some suggestions and some questions to ask yourself. The first thing to look for is the design and layout of the site in question. Is the website easy on the eye or is it cluttered? Cluttered is never a good thing. Do they sell way too many things? Do they specialize in any one thing or are they all over the place with the products? Is the website pretty easy to navigate around or is it a maze? If your shopping online for a loose diamond it's very important to ask yourself does the store sell GIA, EGL, or AGS certified diamonds? GIA, EGL and AGS are the most reputable U.S independant grading laboratories. Also make sure there is a well written diamond guidance section on the site, if there isn't, I suggest moving on.

Step 2
Look for the return policy and scrutinize it. Websites will usually have a 7-day, 14-day, or 30-day return policy and some have a no return policy, so be careful. It's best to obviously do business with someone whom has a 30-day return policy. Make sure you can see a copy of the diamond certificate or diamond grading report before settling on the lovely loose diamond.

Step 3
Also consider the response time if you make an inquiry. If it's taking more than a business day to respond to your inquiry it's probably a good move to find another website to buy your special engagement ring from. Ordering a diamond is a significant purchase and the salesperson helping out must be knowledgeable. Certainly make sure the online jeweler uses 14K, 18K or platinum for the engagement ring settings. Free shipping is a must, if they're charging shipping in our industry...I don't have an answer for that one.
