Create and Deliver a Presentation
Create and Deliver a Presentation

Do you know how to create and deliver a presentation? A presentation that will engage and inspire your audience. There are ten basic tips to creating and delivering a presentation.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PC with PowerPoint
  • Large White Screen
  • Projector
  1. Step 1

    1. Preparation -
Know your material. Study and rehearse several times before delivering the presentation. Plan to use 75% of the alloted time. The remaining 25% is for Q&A. Pace yourself. Each slide should be given equal presentation time.

  2. Step 2

    2. Powerpoint slides -
Each slide should have one major point or theme. Each slide is a guide. Write titles and bullet points like headlines. Use appropriate font size. Watch colors combinations and excessive clipart. Use the visuals to enhance and reinforce your message.

  3. Step 3

    3. Grammar -
Proof read and use spell check. Presentations are not word documents. Avoid common misspelled words.

  4. Step 4

    4. Logistics -
Plan the logistics. You should know the room layout, lighting setup, sound system, temperature controls, seating arrangements, AV equipment location and use. Have a plan B. If anything happens to logistics, how will you deliver the presentation (hand-outs, flip charts, etc).

  5. Step 5

    5. You -
Dress professionally. Watch your public speaking skills. No 'ah', 'um' 'you know' words. Watch bad habits or gestures. This includes fixing your watch or glasses, turning your back on the audience. Be enthusiastic and have fun!

Tips & Warnings
  • Video tape yourself during a practice session. Watch video and make adjustments, if necessary.
  • Deliver the presentation in the room one time before actual presentation.
  • Have family and friends as your test audience.
  • Have others review your PowerPoint presentation.
  • Avoid unexpected problems by letting others assume ownership of your presentation.
