How to Earn Girl Scout Patches
Being a Girl Scout is fun and rewarding. Not only do you get to spend time with other girls your age, you get a chance to serve others, explore nature and earn awards. There are several ways to earn Girl Scout patches.

Join the Girl Scouts of America. There are different levels for different ages, including Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes.

Purchase the handbook and sign off on activities. Each level will have its own handbook, which you may purchase from your Girl Scout council. There are many different patches in the handbook that you can earn. Some require only one completed activity, and others require multiple activities. Activities can be as simple as reading a book or as complex as creating a service project. Once the requirement is completed, have your troop leader sign off on that activity in your book.

Earn patches for celebrating holidays with your troop. Activities may include attending a Halloween party, celebrating Earth Day or putting together stockings to donate to a hospital at Christmas.

Visit destinations to earn patches. You may earn patches by attending Girl Scout camp or visiting selected destinations, such as museums or amusement parks with your troop.

Earn participation patches. Activities may include asthma awareness, Girl Scout safety awareness, getting in shape or attending work with your mom or dad.

Participate in troop activities. Activities may include pool parties, craft days or cookie sales.

Sew your patches onto your sash as soon as you receive them so you don't lose them.
