  1. Step 1

    While all of us want to Prevent Colon Cancer, we must understand that in order to prevent this we need knowledge. Knowing what to do, eat, and what tests should be taken is crucial.

  2. Step 2

    Change your eating habits before symptoms occur. These symptoms consists of rectal bleeding, change in bowel habits, and feeling bloated are just a few. Knowing these symptoms can save your life. Start eating more fiber and less fatty red meat.

  3. Step 3

    Know what the risks are. If you are over 50, have a family history of colon or rectal cancer or personal history of Crohns disease, being aware of some of these risks factors should be enough for you to see your doctor.

  4. Step 4

    Doing all you can do, not only means diet, but if you smoke it means stop. Smoking increases your chances, and remember this cancer is nicknamed the "silent killer".

  5. Step 5

    So, diet along with preventive screenings can help with the prevention of this disease.

When I turned 50 my doctor wanted me to have one, and I said, "No way!" After I spoke with a lady whose husband died from colon cancer I figured I would get the test done after all. "5"
