Love and respect aren't tangible objects to obtain; therefore they're gauged differently among various individuals. This makes finding a man and earning his respect a seemingly difficult endeavor for some single women and men. If you want to learn how to get a man in your life who respects you, there are a few things you can do, but it should never involve settling for what you'd consider second best.

1. Make yourself available, without being too obvious. Desperation is something that people can sense even if you're holding back. Make yourself noticeable at events where men might want to approach you, but don't overdo it by showing up at the same club or bar every single night, or even every weekend. This might give the wrong impression to some men.

2. Play a little hard to get. Again, this is something that shouldn't be overdone, because men are creatures that sometimes get bored of this game. Still, some enjoy the thrill of the hunt as well. If you're a little hard to get, some men respect that as a sign that you're not going to "dance" with just anybody.

3. Make eye contact with men who've piqued your interest. Believe it or not, a little subtle eye contact from across a room or table sends a signal to that man that you're interested. From there, play it cool and watch his signals.

4. Let a man ask you out, so it feels like it's his idea. Approaching a man does show that you have confidence, but it may also come off as romantically aggressive, which might be a turnoff for some. Sometimes old-fashioned chivalry of waiting for a man to come to you is more than worth it.

5. Date casually with the man you've set your heart on, but find a balance between being open and uptight. For instance, trying to spend too much time with a new boyfriend makes it hard for them to respect you, as they see you as a smothering element. 6. Make your intentions clear with the man you've chosen after the third date; that way you don't come across as too eager to be in a relationship. A man will also respect that you know what you want, after taking time to just enjoy the fun you're having first.
