There are different ways to hook a high-definition TV to a receiver to get the high quality picture. Methods include using, component, S-Video, or HDMI cables. Remember with component or S-Video you will also need seperate audio cables as well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • TV
  • Receiver
  • Cables(either component, S-Video or HDMI)
  1. Step 1

First thing first, you need to decide which cables you will use to setup your new high-definition TV. The three basic choices are component, S-Video, or HDMI cables. Their are some advantages and disadvantages to each. Usually the component and S-Video will be cheaper than HDMI but you also have to have seperate audio cables. Also HDMI is the highest quality out of the three.

  2. Step 2

Next. So you have decided which cables to use. Now, it is just plugging one end of the cable into the TV and the other into the receiver. Make sure on the receiver you put the cable into the TV output slot. You are now done.

  3. Step 3

Ok, now test the TV to make sure you are getting a picture and be sure to test the HD channels to see if the HD signal is working correctly.
