Things You'll Need:
- Sturdy Paper Plate
- Yarn or String
- Two Straws
- 4 Medium Wooden Beads
- 1 Large Wooden Bead
- Pipe Cleaner
- Hot Glue
-
Step 1
Make your animal craft with a sturdy paper plate using the bottom of the plate as the top portion of your animal. For the frog pictured here, you can see the step by step instructions using the link below.
-
Step 2
Once you have completed your animal craft, turn the plate upside down so you are looking at the front of the plate (the part you eat off of).
-
Step 3
Place a non-flexible straw across the plate at the back end and measure. Cut the straw so that each end rests on the ridge of the plate. If all you have a flexible straw, be sure to cut the end that bends off so that it will be sturdy.
-
Step 4
Repeat step 3 for the front portion of the plate.
-
Step 5
Place a medium sized wooden bead on the straw. The wooden bead should be large enough to keep the plate up off the floor just a bit. Wrap a piece of pipe cleaner around the straw to hold the wooden bead in place. Be sure you do not pinch your straw. Repeat this on the other side of the wooden bead. Place a ribbon of glue on the side of the pipe cleaner to keep these from slipping. We used hot glue to speed up drying time.

Step 6
Wrap a piece of pipe cleaner around the straw to hold the wooden bead in place. Be sure you do not pinch your straw. Repeat this on the other side of the wooden bead. Place a ribbon of glue on the side of the pipe cleaner to keep these from slipping. We used hot glue to speed up drying time.
-
Step 7
Repeat step 5 for the other end of the straw so that you have two wooden beads (your wheels) on each side. Now hot glue the straw in place resting it on the ridge of the plate.
-
Step 8
Repeat steps 5 and 7 for the other straw and glue this to the other end of the plate.
-
Step 9
Tie a piece of yarn or string to the straw at the front of the plate. Tie a large wooden bead to the end of the yarn for pulling this paper plate toy.
